There was a bunch of comments over at LoHud about sending letters to Andy Pettitte from real NY Yankees fans to tell him how we really feel and why we need him to return. I think it’s a great idea. The best way to reach him is to send mail to his agents HQ’s. Please be very nice and cordial.

I know it doesn’t mean he won’t be pitching next year in the interlocking NY, but can we catch just a tiny break?

I have spoken with Brian Cashman, who has reiterated what Hank Steinbrenner said about the Yankees wanting to give Andy all the time he needs to decide about next season…Accordingly, we are declining to exercise the option for 2008 and Andy will declare free agency in order to free up a roster spot for the Yankees.

If Andy decides to play, I am confident we can reach an agreement with the Yankees within 24 hours. The only options, as Andy has stated, are the Yankees or retirement. He appreciates the Yankees’ willingness to give him the time he feels he needs. I do not expect him to make a decision for quite some time.

Posada hearts Girardi; Mets heart Posada

There had been some rumors of a rift between Posada and Girardi. According to a press release Friday from Posada it’s not true…

“Girardi was my mentor and he always taught me the value of having a great work ethic and how it was most important to maintain the position year after year,” Posada said in the statement, released by his agents, Sam and Seth Levinson.

In the coming days/weeks I truly believe the veterans will come back (Posada, Pettitte, Rivera) and I know the Yankees will do everything in their power to put a quality player at third base. Joe Girardi was part of the last dynasty and is a true Yankee.

Anyone who will intentionally put # 27 on their back to remind them self and everyone in the world what their #1 goal is …. has huge balls. That’s exactly the type of thing the Yankees need right now.
